Sole Obsession Footwear opened in October of 2008. The store is a passion project of owner Kelly Ellis who says that "Sole Obsession has the feel of coming home to a living room. Nearly every detail, even the shelves on the wall are what you would expect to see in a home or comfortable and cozy atmosphere." The store also features a section for kids who want to play while waiting for mom or dad to peruse the store.

Ellis, who has experience in footwear fitting from previous ventures said she has received positive feedback from Lynden residents and customers who check out the shop. She's been thrilled with how well Lynden has accepted and encouraged the store.  "People are excited about having a shoe store in town. Our goal is always to supply what Lynden would like to see. This is the place to go if you're in Lynden and you need shoes..."
